We were driving out to the viewpoint for the huge pano and some stunning light framed the mountains in this image. A real quandary whether to remove the line of pylons so for the moment they stay

The frozen S bends

Heading along route 1 away from the blue lagoon of the north you drive over a small pass thats on the side of Mt. Námafjall near Krafla. As you then descent to the geothermal pools of Hverarönd/ Námafjall/Hverir you can see this lovely set of S bends

The light is coming from sodium night lights giving great contrast against the -23 snow and ice covered slopes behind.

I believe that this is one of the older well heads that isn’t currently being used. I loved the simplicity of the monochrome image with the white snow contrasting against the dark volcanic rocks

Good active aurora over the volcanic pseudo craters that surround the Myvatn lake in Northern Iceland. We were lucky to get two good nights of Aurora that followed a solar storm. This was taken literally yards from the Sel - Hótel Mývatn where we stayed for the week
